Grams to Fluid Ounces Converter

Grams measure mass and fluid ounces measure volume, so ingredient density is required. For water, 100 grams is about 3.38 US fluid ounces.

Choose an ingredient before converting. Results use US fluid ounces, not Imperial fluid ounces or weight ounces.

How to convert grams to fluid ounces

US fluid ounces = grams × 8 ÷ grams per US cup

A regular ounce, written oz, measures mass. A fluid ounce, written fl oz, measures volume. They answer different questions and cannot be exchanged without density information.

Fluid ounces and weight ounces are different

This page uses the US customary fluid ounce. One US cup contains 8 US fluid ounces. Imperial fluid ounces are a different size, so results from UK references may not match.

Kitchen densities vary with brand, temperature, packing and ingredient form. Treat the results as practical recipe estimates and use the original gram weight when precision matters.
